Insurance, tax and inspection costs

Paid ฿12,000 for a year of insurance? If it all landed in one month, that month would look awful. So RoveHQ counts 1/12 of it each month it covers.

You pay one of two ways:

• All at once: one cost on the day you paid, shared across the months it covers.
• Every month: RoveHQ adds each instalment as a cost on the same day every month until the cover runs out. You don't enter them.

Renew from the vehicle (best way)

This records the cost and moves the car's date in one go.

1. Open the vehicle, find Tax, insurance and service dates.
2. Under the one you renewed, tap Renewed it? Enter the new date (or Add the date).
3. Add a Photo of the document (optional). RoveHQ reads the date and cost from it.
4. Check Cover starts and Runs out on.
5. Under How is it paid? pick All at once or Every month, and enter the Cost (or Cost per month).
6. Tap Save.

It tells you what it'll do, like "Counted as ฿1,000 a month over 12 months in your costs".

Thailand, older vehicles: cars over 7 years and bikes over 5 need an inspection (ตรอ.) before road tax. When you renew Road tax, put that in Inspection cost (ตรอ.). It's saved as its own Other cost over the same months. Leave it empty if there wasn't one.

Or add it as a normal cost

1. Add a cost (receipt photo or by hand) and choose Insurance or Tax. A What it covers box appears.
2. If there's more than one paper it could be, pick it under Which of the car's papers? (or Not the car's papers).
3. Fill in Covers from and Covers until.
4. Leave Also set the car's ... to run out on ... ticked to move the car's date too.
5. Save.

You can change the cover dates later by opening the entry in Money in & out.

Elsewhere RoveHQ adds the local name, e.g. Malaysia Road tax (LKM) and Vehicle inspection (PUSPAKOM), Indonesia (PKB / STNK) and (KIR), Philippines (LTO), (CTPL) and (Emission test), Vietnam (Phí đường bộ), (Bảo hiểm TNDS) and (Đăng kiểm).
