Open Buying a vehicle from the menu.

Check a vehicle

  1. Pick the type: Car, Scooter, Motorbike, Van, ATV or E-bike.
  2. Choose the Make, Model and Year (and Version if offered). Not on the list? Choose Not listed and type it.
  3. Enter the Price asked and Kilometres so far.
  4. Under How you would rent it out, pick By the month, By the day or Both.
  5. Buying on finance? Tick I would buy it on a loan and enter the deposit, monthly payment and months.
  6. Tap Calculate earnings.

A new model takes about a minute. RoveHQ looks up local shops' rental prices, used adverts for the model, and insurance, tax and servicing costs.

Where the rent comes from

It uses the best it can find:

  • if you rent by the month and already have this model, what you charge for it, adjusted for the age difference (if you change the rent, Use that puts it back)
  • what at least 3 other rental businesses on RoveHQ near you (or in your country) charge for that model
  • prices found online, which can be higher than what Facebook and walk-in shops charge

The note under the rent says which one was used. Change it if you know better.

Reading the result

The top tells you roughly what it makes a year and gives a verdict: Strong buy, Good buy, Only at a better price or Not worth it. If the price is too high, it tells you the most to pay.

Then:

  • Is the price fair?: where the price sits against similar adverts.
  • How it rents: demand, the rent, and how much of the year it's likely out.
  • What it would make you: cash left each month, profit a year, payback time and return.
  • What it costs to run: insurance, tax and servicing a year.
  • Reliability and known issues, and other vehicles worth a look for the same money.
  • When to sell: the year it earns you the most, and what it should sell for.

A coloured line says whether figures were checked live today or are rough estimates. Open The figures used to change any number, and Year by year to see what you'd make selling after each year.

Save to compare keeps it in a list with your other checks. Find better buys searches current adverts around the same budget.

These are estimates. Check the vehicle and the numbers before you buy.

Questions

How many checks do I get?

Each month: 2 on Free, 10 on Starter, 50 on Pro and 200 on Business. During the free trial you get the allowance of the plan you're on (Pro unless you've picked another). A vehicle already looked up for your area (same model, year and version) opens straight away and doesn't use a check.

The rent looks wrong for my area. Can I change it?

Yes. Type your own price in the rent box under How it rents, or change any figure under The figures used. The result updates as you type.
