Malta's renters are mostly visitors on short trips, often driving on the left for the first time. This version keeps the agreement in English, an official language of Malta and the language of business there, and covers what comes up on the islands.

What the Malta version covers

Driving. Traffic drives on the left, and driving into Valletta can incur an access charge, which the renter pays.

Area. The car may go to Gozo on the ferry but not leave the Maltese islands.

Fines. Fines from Transport Malta, the Local Enforcement System Agency or the police are the driver's, and you pass on the renter's details where the law requires.

Fair terms and disputes. Wording follows the Consumer Affairs Act; consumer disputes can go to the Consumer Claims Tribunal. Personal data follows the GDPR, with the IDPC as regulator.

Every EU version also follows EU consumer law: prices shown with every compulsory charge included, damage charged only at its evidenced cost and never above the excess when a damage waiver applies, no keeping the whole deposit as a penalty, and the 14-day withdrawal right not applying to car rental for set dates. Fines and renter details follow the GDPR, and the renter signs on paper or electronically, both valid under eIDAS.
