The question every Cyprus renter asks is whether they can drive to the north. Insurance from the Republic is not valid there, and many local hire firms won't allow it. This agreement makes it your choice: no crossing without your written permission and separate insurance bought by the renter, who is then fully responsible there.

What the Cyprus version covers

Language. English beside Greek. Instead of making one version prevail, the meaning more favourable to the renter applies, as EU unfair-terms law reads doubtful terms anyway.

Driving. Left-hand traffic, child restraints under 12 years and 150 cm, and the alcohol limits for new and professional drivers.

Fines. Camera fines are transferred to the renter through the police.

Fair terms and data. Law 93(I)/1996 on unfair terms, and the Data Protection Commissioner for personal data.

Every EU version also follows EU consumer law: prices shown with every compulsory charge included, damage charged only at its evidenced cost and never above the excess when a damage waiver applies, no keeping the whole deposit as a penalty, and the 14-day withdrawal right not applying to car rental for set dates. Fines and renter details follow the GDPR, and the renter signs on paper or electronically, both valid under eIDAS.
